First National Conference on Domestic Violence

In 1985 the Australian Institute of Criminology hosted a National Conference on Domestic Violence, formulating many recommendations to relevant Government departments. During 1986, extensive consultations with women under the National Agenda for Women revealed that domestic violence was a major concern. The Federal Government responded in 1987 with a three-year $1.6 million national education campaign.
