First female Governor General of Australia – Quentin Bryce

Quentin Bryce

Quentin Bryce becomes the first female Governor General of Australia on 5 September 2008.

Ms Bryce spent her early years in central western Queensland and went on to become a lawyer, academic and human rights advocate. Her former roles include Federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner, and founding Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the National Childcare Accreditation Council. She was the Governor of Queensland prior to taking up this role.
