Since 2013 Rosie Batty has been a champion for the prevention of domestic violence – having lost her son Luke that year. She has become an inspirational leader who speaks candidly about her experience and the need for further action by Government.
In 2014 she founded the Luke Batty Foundation in honour of her son. The Foundation raises community awareness of domestic violence, advocates to Government, and supports victims.
In recognition of her efforts to draw attention to the issues of domestic violence in the face of such personal tragedy, Rosie was named Australian of the Year for 2015.
