School based Respectful Relationships Education

School based Respectful Relationships education is incorporated in the National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and Their Children With considerable consultation and work by a National Advisory Council to reduce domestic violence and sexual assaults, the Federal Government’s National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and Their Children was released in August 2010 which directly responded to the Council’s “A Time for Action” report and immediately committed to three key actions:

– implementing the Respectful Relationships program will help educate young people on ethical relationships,

– the development of a social marketing campaign “The Line” targeted at young people and parents…

Strategy 2.1 “Build on young people’s capacity to develop respectful relationships” one of the key actions by the Commonwealth 2010 to 2013 is said to be to “work through the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority to support the inclusion of Respectful Relationships education in phase three of the Australian National Curriculum.
